It is so important to take pictures with your kids. These parents always do such a great job at that. I need to learn from them! Here's a couple that I especially love!

We loved that shot so much we used it in his Birthday announcement, Mom and Dad send out each year!

Love how they not only send all his cute pictures that show his little personality, but they also tell what he's into at three! It's a great documentation!

The Beach

We went to the beach this summer and took a moment to take some pictures. My camera did not operate very well at the beach. First I was scared to take it out because of the humidity and the sand that could scratch the lens. Plus it would take forever for the camera to acclimate from the cold condo to the hot, humid outdoors.

We met Hubby's family there and here are all the cousins!

And just me and the hubs!

I didn't take my camera to the beach every day. I only took it a few times. How cute are these two though? (And I swear I put sunscreen on them every 30-45 minutes despite how red Presley's face looks! It was so hot outside!)

Wow, I apologize! My absence does not mean I haven't been busy. With pictures, kids, a squeezed-in summer trip to the beach, and growing in the belly region. Not from one too many beers (I wish!), but because we are expecting No. 3 - another girl, we're naming Temple! Summer and the insane heat basically took over and now that we are back to school (one in kindergarten, one in preschool two days a week) I have a brief moment (because I'm due in less than two weeks) to catch up! I blame it on a serious case of the...lazys, summer-heat-gone-to-my-brain, time-got-away-from-me, no-bedtime-for-the-girls-all-summer (and no downtime for mama, so therefore I fell into bed myself), and finally, my-firstborn-was-going-to-kindergarten-and-I-savored-every-last-minute... Excuse me while I get a tissue.

So take your pick on any of those ~~excuses~~ reasons. Anywho, what better post than to share these pictures of this sweet little baby named, Piper! Love that name!

Yes, she was born in May and we took these right after she was born and I'm JUST now posting them. I was trying NOT to look at that date and calculate all that. But I had to look. Oh my! Did I mention that I'm pregnant? I've used the heck out of that excuse! And I'm about to use the one, "I have a newborn." By the way, we are so not ready for the change a newborn brings. And yet, I'm SOOO ready.

My friend Megan came in town for Easter with her four month old little baby girl, Claire. They came and hung out a day with me and the girls. We had a very quick and impromptu shoot. My girls were trying to get in on the action with their camera. Needless to say, we had lots of extra help!!

Sawyer and his cousin, Jett came out to see me a couple weeks ago. They brought their moms and their grandma with them to sing them songs, make animal noises, and give them plenty of kisses in between!

The Hays family, which are our dear friends dating back to high school, met me at Prairie Creek in Richardson. Little Jackson wasn't feeling good when I got there, he rallied as best he could, and by the end of the shoot, he had a fever that continued to rise and lasted for like 4 or 5 days. He almost had to be admitted to the hospital for IV antibiotics! Poor thing!

We got a family picture! Whoohoo!

And then cousin Maddie got there and although we didn't get a cousins' picture, she looked adorable!

Round 2 was the Phillips side, which equates to more kids and younger. So this was still quite a bit challenging. But we managed to capture them in their essence, which is play, play, play, till the mamas take us away. Here are some of our favorites! Or theme was black, white and red!! (And this is where the pictures for our Christmas card originated!)

Cousins, Part 1

Every year we do cousin pictures, on both sides of the family. First up, Pointer cousins. This year, they were at a great age for some fun group pictures. We went with a Grinch theme. The pics turned out soo cute, had to share!

In order of oldest to youngest, which happened to be how they came down the slide! Isn't it always amazing how some of the pictures where the kids initiate are the ones that come out the best!!?

Miss Hadley was such a joy to photograph. She made it soooo easy! She had personality bursting out for like two straight hours!! And when we were finishing up, she was just getting warmed up! I could have taken her home with me! Plus her mama didn't miss a single detail! Her nails were painted pink, nary a chip, and she had pink heart stick-on earings (why didn't I think of that? My little ones got some in their stocking this year!)!

Ashlyn's Angels are throwing another benefit concert for this sweet girl on October 3rd at 3pm at Texas Love and War in Plano, TX.

Ashlyn's Story:

My name is Ashlyn and I am five years old. When I was one year old, an unidentified viral infection caused me to break out in a rash and made me run a high fever. Twenty four hours later, I went into a twenty minute grand mal seizure and was rushed to the hospital. The viral infection had gone to my brain causing significant damage to the left hemisphere, and caused a
stroke. This caused paralysis on the right side of my body. I then started my road to rehabilitation; learning how to properly swallow, sit up, crawl, etc. again.

One year after my illness I started having seizures which progressively worsened over the next couple of years. I went from having one seizure every couple of weeks to multiple seizures a day; even while I was asleep at night! My doctors tried multiple combinations of medications to make my seizures stop, but they continued to increase in amount and severity. Some of the medications reeked havoc one my little body; I was hospitalized two times for pancreatitis.

After running out of options for medication and my seizures spiraling out of control, the decision was made for me to have surgery. My neurologist was able to determine that all of my seizure activity was coming from the left hemisphere of my brain. In July 2009, I had a hemispherotomy where sections of my brain were removed and the left hemisphere of my brain was disconnected from the right hemisphere. Because I am still young, the right hemisphere will take over many of the left hemisphere's functions. The surgery took a toll on my body; once again I was unable to sit up, crawl, walk, etc. I stayed in the hospital for two weeks and then was transferred to an in-patient rehab facility for five weeks. There were days I just wanted to sleep, cry, not eat or be around anyone. I fought through those dark days and worked hard to regain what I had lost. I ended up walking out of the rehab facility! It has been one year since my surgery and I feel myself continuing to get stronger. So far the surgery has been a success because I have not had anymore seizures!

Two years post surgery without any seizures will mean the procedure was a success. I still have weakness on my right side which requires a lot of therapy (speech, aquatic, physical, occupational, horse, etc). I wear a brace on my right foot, an apparatus on the lower half of my body and an apparatus on my right hand to help my body be more functional. I don't have much function in my right arm/hand so the left hand has had to step up and learn to do double the work. The occupational therapy is very important because it will help me
get the most function I can out of my right hand. The medical and therapy expenses have mounted over the last four years. My parents feel very strongly that all of the service providers who have saved and improved my life deserve to be compensated. The money raised at this benefit will go towards past and future medical/therapy expenses. Thank you for supporting

I wanted to take a moment and do a couple shout outs for all my peeps who own their own business.

Framed Pictures

This is probably SO yesterday. But my sister gave me this old window frame she found when she was cleaning out her shed.

I was going to put pictures behind the glass, but then they didn't clean up well so instead I took the panes out. I printed some pictures to size in black and white and had them mounted on styrene board. I put them into place, added some picture wire, and hung it in my kitchen. I love how it turned out and that I actually finished a project. I'm so bad about envisioning a fun project like this, but then never doing it! I thought I would share! (I took all these pictures with my phone, so bare with me!)

Logan's mama received a gift certificate for her baby shower! Fast forward six months and Logan was in my studio and I had the pleasure of working with him and his sweet parents. Logan is a mover and shaker don't let this picture fool ya!

He was an inquisitive little fella! That's why I LOVE this age! I've said it before, and I'll say it again (tell your friends, shout it from the roof top, post it on your blog, put it on the calendar) - six months old is the age to do a photo shoot!!

I've been lovin' me some black and whites lately!

Bring special items in for the shoot. This blanket was made by a friend especially for Logan! And Logan wrapped himself up!

I love this one of Logan with his Daddy's big, strong hands wrapped sweetly around him. Actually, it makes Logan look kind of small! But as you can tell by his yummy rolls, he wasn't that little!

I drove north to meet Baby Gage a few weeks ago, and now that the announcements have been mailed out, I get to share all the pictures here on the ol' blog.

First, I loved this one of sweet, little (but not so little, if you check out his birth weight below) Gage in his nursery lying in his crib. His nursery was awesome! His mama, Sara, knows how to decorate! Her whole house was inspirational actually!

Baby Gage slept for us a little at the beginning and then not some much until we went outside and he was out! And his birth announcement, which might be my favorite yet! (See Tina Parker's My Lil Creations)

Madden has a new smile he likes to give for pictures. While it's cute and adorable and captures a moment in time, all mama's want at least one picture of their child smiling naturally for the camera. That is one thing I love about photography - the challenge to draw out and capture that natural joy. I always give it my all! But I ain't gonna lie, I don't ALWAYS succeed. Some kids are hard to crack!

As many of you know, a couple months back I had the honor of helping decorate the walls of a doctor's office! Jennifer, one of my great clients' husband, Dr. Leung, works with a group of physicians who just opened a new location for their practice in Lewisville, MD Pediatric Associates.

They helped me pick out the following images for 6 separate galleries throughout the office! I haven't been there to see them hung in person just yet, but Jennifer text'd me these pictures!

Here are the two waiting areas. We went with big galleries!!

Flowery Field

There was (it's now been mowed) a flowery field behind our church that had been tempting me for weeks to come and take some pictures there of the girls. Well when my photog friend, Rachael, called to go shoot, I jumped at the chance. We loaded up chairs, girls, dresses, cameras and headed out in the early evening. It was hot, there had been been no nap. Just sayin'...

I also just happen to have gotten some new color actions that I was wanting to play around with.

Addison's picture I really liked it just the way it came out!

I have my eye on another little field of flowery goodness. So if you like the look, we can head over there for an early evening session. I might load up the girls (post nap) and try it out soon!

As you can see, there was an influx of babies around here! (So you can imagine my baby fever! But I'm waiting patiently on hubby to say it's again time to procreate.)

Lila is now five weeks already, but when she came for her first photo shoot, she was a mere six days old. My youngest subject to date (besides my own). And we got sooo many cute ones!! This was my favorite hands down!

And her announcement shows my next four favorites!

She's still just as sweet as can be! Crystal, thanks again for letting me get my baby fix and take pictures of lil Lila Grace!

Chicken, Brocolli, and Rice Casserole

I love me a good casserole! This is a good one that my mother-in-law cooks! It's a crowd-pleaser and the ingredients store for a good while, so it's nice to cook for playdates, pot lucks, and just about anything else!

Chicken, Broccoli, and Rice Casserole

3 chicken breasts, raw and cubed
2 cups of minute rice
1 can cream of chicken
1 can cream of mushroom
1 regular sized bag of frozen broccoli florets
2 -2 ½ cups of water
Small bag of sharp cheddar, shredded (reserve some to sprinkle on top)
Garlic salt and pepper (a lot of both!)

Mix together and pour in casserole dish. Sprinkle cheese on top and bake at 350 for one hour.

Baby Harrison

We got this fun car when Presley turned three. Well neither of them had a clue how to drive it, so it was more trouble than it was worth. Well, this year things have changed! They have places to go and it's been a bit hit! Honestly every time they get it, my mind flashes to when they are going to be driving a real car and driving off together!

Anywho, I have lots of pictures to post and honestly don't have time to be gettin' all sentimental...

My sister and nieces came over for a Mommy and Me shoot. Willa was busy 'talking on the phone'. She enjoyed the lime light after her sister, Dovie, had about a 30 minute meltdown right before we got started. After some Motrin and some fruit snacks we decided to wait to do the remainder of the shoot since she had puffy, red eyes and didn't seem to feel all that well. I wanted to post something about it because these things happen, and that's life! We can always try again! It's not always the most convenient thing for parents (get everyone ready, everyone dressed, everyone to the shoot fed, rested, and happy), but it's an option!

Anywho, Alison says when her girls pretend to be on the phone, they say, "hi daddy!". Mine say, "hello....nuthin'". Kids are so dang cute!

Just wanted to share a couple pics of my two I took for an upcoming spring project...

Teagan is now 2.25 years. She has the tiniest little voice that teeters on the fence between innocently sweet and straight up whinny. She's a creature of habit and has many OCD moments including, but not limited to:

PJ's - Must be long sleeve with pants. The sleeves must remain at the wrists and the pant legs must remain at the ankle AT ALL TIMES.
When she gets out of bed (both in the morning and when we are trying to get her to go to sleep) she has to gather up all her belongings she sleeps with - teddy, George, and her blanket. Yesterday she was sick so we had a bowl with her at all times. This morning when she came to our room, she had all her belongings, including her bowl.
Anytime she hears anything about Great Wolf Lodge, she has to say "that bucket fell down" (referring to the big bucket of water that dumps out every 15 minutes or so).

She plays really well with other kids, especially boys. This child loves boys, especially older boys! She's going to keep me on my toes later in life. Her current obsessions are Dora, Chuck E Cheese, Fruit Pebbles (which she calls "candy cereal") and donuts. The girl is tiny, but she can EAT!

Presley is now 3.75 years and is still as girlie as ever. She refuses to wear pants and only wants to wear dresses and skirts. She loves to go to pre-K and asks me every day, "do I have school tomorrow?" She's been asking for a brother, to which I reply, go tell your daddy! She and Teagan play well together, until I notice and think that, and then all heck breaks loose. Presley's also obsessed with donuts! Other than that, she's not a good eater. She can't wait to be as big as so-and-so, and loves to do anything and everything by herself. She washed her own hair the other day and when I got her out of the bath, I caught a whif of the top of her head and it just smelled like wet dog! Guess she missed a spot.

They both can't wait to go to the park more now that the weather is warming up.

Although these two sometimes push every button I have and push my patience to the limit (and sometimes past that), they are sweet girls and are generally well behaved. Hubby took them to Chuck E Cheese by himself and said they were so good and that two different ladies told him how well behaved they were. He was so proud and so was I! (Now, this past weekend when Presley threw her friend's toy and broke it? Not my proudest moment.)

The girls and I had fun with these vintage hats while we took some fun valentine's day pictures.

I had to add this one because this is what Teagan does when she pouts - head down, hand in/by mouth.

I even got in on the fun! Hubby snapped this (and wanted full credit if I posted on my blog, so here ya go, Babe!). I gave it an old style color and added some texture.

I literally could not stop signing this song for about a week after little Kylee and her parents came out for Kylee's one year pictures!

Just look at the cuteness of those boots (and that jacket)! And her little inquisitive nature, holding on so she didn't fall - pure preciousness!

And her beautiful smoked Christmas dress, I think I heard angels sing when mom brought it out!

Pop Art

A friend sent me a text last week and asked if I did "pop art". I wrote back, what's "pop art" (sometimes I'm a little slow with my pop culture lingo, but nothing a little google couldn't fix)? So I looked it up and I said, sure!! And oh my gosh! The fun I had in photoshop!

So she sent me a cute pic of one of her kids and I made it into fun, fresh popped art!

She ordered a 16x20, mounted it, and added the linen texture to make it look like canvas! It's being delivered today!! This would also make for some great birthday invites or note cards!

When the girls lay down for nap time, I grab a hot drink and head to the computer. Sometimes it's a "spot of tea" and sometimes it's a microwaved cup of coffee. Today I opted for no caffeine and had some hot chocolate. It was delicious.

And lately since it's been so cold, I grab my snuggie we got for Christmas that I've kept at the computer and throw it on. (I really don't get the snuggie. Like I heard someone say, "why not wear your robe backwards?" And I really don't appreciate the static. But it's been nice!! And I'm liking it more and more!)

Hot cup of something + snuggie + quiet house + computer = my happy place!! What's your happy place??

I hope everyone had a wonderful, relaxing, food-and-family-filled Thanksgiving! I love Thanksgiving for all those reasons and more!

I have a picture of the 3x3 square mini accordion fold brag book to show. These are SUCH great quality!! My client picked them up and immediately texted me and said "LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them! Thanks!" She capitalized L-O-V-E three times! THAT'S serious love, y'all! And I don't blame her! My peeps will be getting some of these this season too!!

Album pages

I created a gallery for a client of sample album pages for her little girls. Now these are really girlie, BUT I have all kinds of papers to make custom albums. They are great for seniors, one year old albums (with pictures from all your sessions), family pictures, or just an album from your session.

I'm got 12 pages added to the gallery to give you an idea of how the pages will look. They are named by which pages are side by side. For example, album A and album A.1 are side by side when the book is open. Then there will be the opening page and the parting page that will be similar. The pages are hinged so that the book lays flat when it's open.

www.tpointer.photobiz.com/cart password is 'pink'. The solid blocks are where the photos are inserted.

The books come standard with 20 sides (ten pages). And you proof all the pages once they are done. The cover of the book is custom. You can add text anywhere throughout the book. We can add to some the pages or we can subtract from some them. The whole book is completely customizable and made to flow in terms of color, layout, etc.

Albums come in the following sizes: 5x7 and 8.5x11 horizontal, 8x8 and 10x10 square.

I had been itching to use these fun leopard print papers and when I saw these precious outfits, I had totally designed their one year announcement in my head! P.S. I think I saw arboretum staff repainting the awesome grungy blue rod iron black. I wanted to scream "NOOOOO!" But I refrained. I'm sure black will be nice for pictures too...
